Problems with your motorcycles battery going flat / not charging?

If your Garage / Mechanic has told you that you need a new voltage rectifier regulator for your Yamaha YZF R1 or Yamaha FZ1000 motorcycle, they have probably tested the battery voltage with and without the engine running. If the battery is not charging with the engine running there is a high likelihood that the regulator has failed.

Regulator rectifiers give your bike the electrical current / voltage required to meet the demand created by the ignition system, lights and other accessories. If, as with most modern motorcycles / scooters, your bike uses a 12V system and battery to power the electrics, the regulator charges the battery while the engine is running.
